Vox Media hosts its first UpFront presentation, Eater wins three James Beard Awards and more.

The Wall Street Journal profiled Vox Media and spoke with CEO Jim Bankoff about the third wave of online media, and previewed our forthcoming UpFront presentation, held on Thursday.

At the first-ever Vox Media UpFront, we unveiled a slate of upcoming digital series and introducing Chorus for Advertisers, a new service that leverages Chorus, our proprietary storytelling, distribution, and insights platform, on behalf brand partners.  We also announced a partnership with global marketing and technology agency DigitasLBi, availing Chorus first to DigitasLBi’s clients.  Our presentation and announcements were among the most buzzed about in the industry, with coverage coming from AdWeek, AdAge, The Hollywood Reporter, Capital NY, The Huffington Post, The Wrap, and more.

Eater was awarded three James Beard Awards.  Critic Ryan Sutton won the Craig Claiborne Distinguished Restaurant Review Award for Artisanal-Everything Roberta's Defies the Stereotypes, Once an Icon, Per Se is Showing its Age, and Six Reasons Why Cosme is One of NYC's Most Relevant New Restaurants, while contributor John DeVore won the Personal Essay and MFK Fisher Distinguished Writing awards for his essay Life in Chains: Finding Home at Taco Bell. Eater is the first digital-only brand to receive these prestigious recognitions for outstanding food journalism.

Eater also held it’s first-ever Hack Week, gathering Eater editors and designers and developers from across the Vox Media product team for a week of collaborating on new storytelling tools and functionalities.
